We’re already past the halfway mark into 2013 and I hope everyone is doing well in your lives!
As I write this post, I’m about 3 months away from reaching my 5th year mark in the music industry, and I have to say that 2013 is turning out be a year of interesting opportunities, especially in the area of studio recording. I’m starting to experience a dream come true. A dream that I’ve always had since I used to see names of famous session musicians credited on the liner notes on most of the recordings I own.
Last April, I participated in the launch performance of Jonathan Meur’s Woodnotes EP, which was the first full EP recording project I worked on. Just recently, I wrote a post mentioning that I’ve commenced work with Zhong Ren Koh on his EP project and we’re currently rehearsing material (https://jasoncruzdrums.wordpress.com/2013/06/18/new-ep-recording-project-zhong-ren-koh/).
Last Saturday, I received a facebook message from a musician, Lin Yi Liang, whom I worked with on Voices From The Gramophone Concert last February, that he’d like me to play on 4 tracks on his new EP project. No brainer, I had to say, yes. We both got along very well during preparations for the VFTG concert and we both expressed our interest in collaborating further on future music projects. I understand that the EP is going to be Jazz-oriented and that’s a new thing for me! I’ve performed Jazz stuff in public, but not recording it in the studio yet! Gotta go get my Jazz chops up!
Two recording projects going on at the same time! Bring it on!!!
Stay tuned for more updates!
