Hi to all Drumheads!
I know this is really late to post a New Year’s greeting but I’d like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a peaceful, prosperous year ahead with good health and positive vibes.
2013 was such an awesome year for me as it was the first year of my freelance career. Some setbacks notwithstanding, the past 12 months were filled with great opportunities to record professionally in the studio (YES!!!), reach out to more people who want to learn the art of drumming, network with more musicians, and gig more. I’m especially proud of my current crop of drumming students who have truly grown over 2013 not just in their playing but also in their overall enthusiasm, dedication to, and respect for music. Oh! And be sure to check back this site for updates on some more recordings that I worked on last year to be released.
2013 was also the year which marked a quite a growth in my drumming especially in the areas of groove, precision – especially for studio recording, Bass Drum speed and power, independence – in particular, soloing over some foot ostinatos, Jazz improvisation, and sight-reading. I’m proud of the discipline and diligence I have put into upgrading my skills and 2014 is set to be no different. I’m at it now like voracious animal..
In 2014, I look forward to not only furthering the achievements I’ve made in my drumming the previous year, but to also get really good at Modern Jazz, Modern Fusion, go deeper into World styles including Afro Cuban, Brazilian, Middle Eastern; Reggae, and abit of Hip-Hop. I aim to produce some Youtube videos to share my works in progress on these concepts and more. Yes..speaking of videos, that’s one thing I’m disappointed in myself for not really doing much of the previous year. Those backlog of drum cover videos that I planned for the previous year as well will have to come out one way or another this year. It’s time to really ride that Youtube wave, baby..
Stay tuned for more updates and keep Rockin’!
