Just a heads up that I got a last minute call today to stand-in for another drummer who unfortunately hurt his back at the Esplanade Concourse, tomorrow, for 2 sets of Modern Jazz music. The repertoire includes tunes from Pat Metheny, Gretchen Parlato, and a couple of SIngaporean originals written by vocalist, Huimin Lim, and guitarist, Alvin Wong.
The first set kicks off at 7.15pm and the 2nd set at 8.15pm. Hope to see some of you there!!
1) Recording Session at a school this Thursday followed by a club gig (4 sets, starting 10.30pm) 2) Teaching Plus 2 band rehearsals on Friday 3) Playing (percussion) with The Gladstones this Saturday at the Esplanade Concourse. 2 sets starting 4.30pm.
It’s been a couple of weeks since I last logged in here. Here’s a gig update:
I will be performing at the Esplanade Concourse this coming Thursday and Friday, with Marcel Lee Pereira who is one-half of the Singaporean Folk-Pop duo, The Gladstones, whom I had the pleasure of working with on their album launch gig last year.
Marcel will be showcasing his original songs and hand-picked covers in the all acoustic format that coincide with the Esplanade’s showcase theme, “New Beginnings”. Do drop by if you’re in Singapore!
Both evenings start at 7.15pm and we play 2 sets each evening..

PS: I’m not playing drumset for the gigs. Will be rattling and hitting some percussions and exercising my brush technique on the snare..
Just a little shout of the above and I will be playing percussion on the gig.
Jonathan Meur is an up and coming singer-songwriter with interesting lyrical themes and arrangements brought to life by organic blend of largely acoustic instruments. It’s been a great pleasure working with him and I look forward to many more future collaborations on his musical projects.
Also on the gig, is a prodigious cellist named Zhong Ren Koh.
Come to listen and relax to some soothing original acoustic music.
